Three months of grinding through the regular season and conference tournament schedule is down and now the real work begins for the Maryland Terrapins. Fresh off their second straight Big Ten Championship, the number one overall seed in the country starts its quest for that elusive National Title.

“This is what everyone dreams of when they’re younger and want to play any division one sport, or division two, division three. They want to compete for a national championship,” said Terps Attack Dylan Maltz.

Recent history hasn’t been kind to Maryland. They’ve lost in the National Final in four of the past six seasons, including the last two.  They’re trying to use that disappointment as fuel this year.

“We haven’t got what we wanted the five years that I’ve been here. That’s to win it all in the end,” said Maryland Midfield Nick Manis. “There’s obviously motivation for all of us.”

“We’ve been a six seed, a seven seed. We’ve been a one twice. We’ve been unseeded a couple times.  So, we’ve done it a number of different ways.” said Terrapins Head Coach John Tillman. “You know if you can just get in and play well, you can keep going.”

The Terps’ (12-3) opponent on Sunday is Northeast Conference Champion Bryant (11-7).  The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in College Park.

“There’s no margin for error,” said Maltz. “So, we’ve got to take this game very seriously. Bryant’s a very good team.”

“If you lose you go home so there’s no thinking anybody is inferior or anything like that,” added Manis. “It’s the same mindset. We want to win. We’re focused on that game and then we kind of go from there.”
