This is what it's all about for Loyola and Calvert Hall.  It’s the season finale on the biggest of stages.

They've been doing this for almost a century and the latest chapter in this historic high school football rivalry will be written Thursday morning in the 97th annual Turkey Bowl.

Calvert Hall has won six of the last seven matchups between the two schools, including the last couple.  The Cardinals are 6-5 on the season.

As for Loyola, they are as hungry as ever to grab a victory on Turkey Day. The Dons are 5-5 on the year but a victory over Calvert Hall will make their season.

Both teams couldn't be more hyped to carry on the proud legacy of this age-old contest.

“It’s a great game for Baltimore, for Calvert Hall and for Loyola,” said Dons head coach Brant Hall.  “Big time rivalry, great tradition, great history of two communities that are coming together to compete in the game of football.”

“It takes on a life of its own,” said Calvert Hall head coach Donald Davis.  “You have everything from the attention, with obviously you guys, playing on Channel 2 and the media coverage of the game.  Then you have the greater community has joined in.”

“The Turkey Bowl experience is amazing,” said Calvert Hall cornerback Isaiah Watson. “It's one of the best experiences you can have as a high school athlete.”

This game will hold extra special meaning for Brant Hall.  After 14 years as a coach for Loyola, the last five as Dons head coach, he is stepping down following Thursday’s contest.

This has been a close game on the scoreboard as of late. The last four Turkey Bowls have been decided by 7 points or less.
