After losing two if its first three games of the season, the Boys Latin football team has found its groove.

“Getting everyone on the same page was kind of the trouble in start but I think we’re starting to click on all cylinders now,” said linebacker Justus Brown.

Winners of three straight games, the Lakers find themselves atop the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association “B” Conference standings with a perfect 3-0 record.  Their quarterback, Brenden Crouse, has led the way.

“Brendan is one of the best quarterbacks definitely in the league, if not in the state he’s one of the top quarterbacks,” said head coach Ritchie Schell.

“I think I’m a mobile quarterback. I think a dual threat, really,” said Crouse. “If I get the pocket I can throw from the pocket. But, if I’m asked to run, I can run.”

On Saturday the Lakers face their toughest test yet when they host the other unbeaten team in the standings, Severn.  The Admirals are 2-0 in the conference and 6-0 overall.

“I think, so far, this is going to be the most competitive game we’ve faced in the conference,” said Crouse. “This is our championship game right now.”

“It’s a big game for us. Top two teams in the conference right now. So, just to see who comes out will be a big deal,” said cornerback/receiver Rashawn Evans.

“It’s going to be on a Saturday here too. The stands are going to be packed. It’s going to be awesome. It’s going to be a great atmosphere,” said center/defensive end Michael O’Neil.

“It’s huge. I would have to say they’re 6-0 so we’re the underdog,” added Schell. “We’ve had their number the last couple of years but they’re a very good team.”

Boys Latin will look for its eighth straight win over the Admirals when kickoff arrives Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
