Orioles' series with Yankees set

BALTIMORE - After a 5-1 win in one of two major league baseball winner-take-all wild card games , the Baltimore Orioles will host the New York Yankees at 6 p.m. Sunday at Camden Yards.

It's not much of a break for a team that has been under plenty of stress in recent weeks and was finally able to celebrate their first playoff berth since 1997 after last night's win. The Orioles swept the Red Sox last week en route to staking claim to a playoff berth, but they were unable to enjoy it as a mishap on the team flight reportedly disrupted what would have been more of a celebration.

The team had an opportunity to also claim the American League East title as they were neck-and-neck with the Yankees in standings during the last several weeks of the regular season. But, a tough series in which the Orioles only claimed one game helped the Yankees spread the gap as they also swept the Red Sox in their next series.

The Orioles are expected to be a little banged up, but should still be plenty in the groove. The Yankees have not played a game since Wednesday.

Analysts and sports writers already working on game predictions say CC Sabathia is the logical choice to start on the mound for the Yankees. Predictions on the starter for the Orioles are not consistent. Official starting lineups have not yet been released.

The Orioles scored 13 runs against Sabathia in regular season games of the 2012 season. They have a .376 on base percentage and a .312 team batting average when facing the 6-foot-7 Yankees left-hander. He had a 7-4 record for the regular season, two of those losses delivered via the Orioles.

The Orioles' bats weren't scorching in their first postseason game, but they got the job done. Currently leading the team in RBIs after that first game are Nate McLouth (2), J.J. Hardy (1), Adam Jones (1) and Manny Machado (1).

As of Saturday morning, tickets were still available for the best of five series.

The Sunday game is one of two in the series that will be played in Baltimore. The second will be a Monday game scheduled for 8 p.m. Game three and subsequent games, if needed, will be played in New York.

If you're unable to make it to the ballpark, all five games will be broadcast on TBS.
