It started off a bit tight, but the they opened it up right in the middle of the game as the Orioles took a big win against the New York Yankees Friday, and fans across the region watched as the O's closer to a playoff spot.

Fans kept their eyes glued to TV screens watching the Orioles all evening. At Mothers Grille in Timonium, the momentum of the game kept the good times coming.

"They're going to make the playoffs," said Tom Cernik, a fan.

Clinching a spot in the playoffs this weekend would make it skipper Buck Showalter's third run with the O's.

Fans watched a volley of home runs started by second baseman Jonathan Schoop, ending in six runs added to the scoreboard in the 5th inning, alone.

Jeff Cernik credited his customized Tim Tebow jersey in Oriole orange.

"In 2012 Tim Tebow  played in the NFL for the Denver Broncos and he beat the Steelers and everything the guy touched was gold, so I figured why not get an Orioles jersey," he said. "He made the orioles a winner."

George Wilcox displayed a shirt he calls the "Yankee eater" and has watched the O's since he was a child, remembering when they first came to Baltimore.

After a win Friday, the oh-so-coveted wild card spot is looking closer than it has been in years.

The Orioles will be taking on the Yankees again tomorrow in game two.
