More than 1 million Marylanders are expected to travel over the next couple of weeks thanks to lower gas prices and back-to-back holiday weekends.

This season, there's a new focus on travel security.

The TSA says some travelers will now be required to pass through full-body scanners at airport security checkpoints.

In the past, travelers could opt for the full-body pat down instead.

It's still unclear which travelers will be required to use the scanner, but the TSA says those decisions will be made "as warranted by security considerations."

TSA says sometimes illegal objects are missed during the full-body pat down and that the scanners are much better at detecting items hidden under clothing.
