Rep. Elijah Cummings, the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, is set to meet with President Donald Trump on March 8, 2017 to discuss lowering prescription drug prices.

Cummings will be joined by Rep. Peter Welch D-Vt., and Dr. Redonda G. Miller,  president of Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The meeting comes after a dispute in mid-February in which President Trump claimed that Rep. Cummings canceled a meeting with him because it would be “bad politics.”

Cummings replied in a statement, “ I have no idea why President Trump would make up a story about me like he did today.”

Rep. Cummings said he is looking forward to the meeting where he and the President can discuss his campaign promises to “stem the skyrocketing prices of prescription drugs.”

"Our hope is that the President will make good on his promise and join us in convincing congressional Republicans to finally start helping American families who rely on these life-saving medications."
