A student has been arrested in connection with a mass violence threat made at Parkdale High School in Riverdale.

Prince George's County detectives said the teen suspect is a student at the school.

According to police, the suspect set up “a Twitter account with a clown theme” during class, and then used the account to threaten harm to the school Monday.

He was charged with threat of mass violence and other charges.

Detectives also identified a student accused of making a bomb threat to Bladensburg High School over social media. Bladensburg High School officials are taking disciplinary action against this student, police said. No criminal charges have been filed.

Police said they’re working with Prince George's County Public Schools, the FBI and the Baltimore Field Office to investigate similar threats made at area schools.

Anyone who sees a threat on social media is asked to contact police instead of forwarding the post.

"While perpetrators may believe certain apps provide anonymity, these investigations show otherwise," Chief Hank Stawinski said in a news release.

Last week, students in Harford and Talbot counties reported receiving clown threats on SnapChat and Instagram.
