ANNAPOLIS, Md - Developers of a slot machine casino at Arundel Mills Mall are free to resume work after opponents withdrew a legal challenge.
Lawyers for area residents and the retail giant Costco dropped their appeals Thursday, saying their clients' concerns were allayed by the developer's promises of better roads and more stoplights
around the casino.
The Cordish Cos. is planning to build a casino with 4,750 slot machines on the parking lot of the mall, after winning a battle that included a voter referendum.
Cordish had already held a groundbreaking before being told by Anne Arundel County to stop
work because of the challenges.
