When's the best time to cross the Bay Bridge?

Earlier this week the Bay Bridge was closed due to what officials have described as "unusual movement." The decision to close the bridge has many pondering the safety of the bridge going into what could be a busy holiday weekend on the structure known for cutting a 2-hour commute in many cases to a five minute trek.

Officials with the MDTA say the bridge is safe, but does not meet current standards .

That begs the question – if you are to travel the bridge, when's the best time to avoid traffic?

MDTA officials predict more than 347,000 vehicles will cross the bridge this holiday weekend. They suggest you plan your trip around peak travel times.
