Trooper injured on I-495 after car hits cruiser

A trooper was injured after a car struck her vehicle early Saturday morning.

Personnel of the Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack received a call of a single collision on Interstate 495 and Maryland Route 4 around 6:20 a.m. in Prince George’s County Maryland.

Trooper Jasmine Ingram arrived to the scene and noticed a motorist struck a guardrail after leaving the road.

Before she exited her vehicle, a Toyota Corolla approaching the scene of the accident left the roadway and struck Ingram’s vehicle located on the left shoulder.

Trooper Ingram was transported to the Prince George’s Hospital Center for medical evaluation. She is listed in stable condition with no life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Corolla, Karhonda West, 37, did not request medical attention at the time of the crash.

Police are investigating the incident, but as of now alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.

The initial crash Trooper Ingram responded to involved no injuries to the driver.

State Highway Administration closed several lanes for scene safety and investigation. All lane have been reopened.
