It was news hard to miss Wednesday morning on the campus of the University of Maryland.
Finals week "offerings" surrounding one of the university's Testudo statues (it's a tradition) went up in flames outside the McKeldin Library.
Officials say the statue itself was never on fire and not seriously damaged. Campus police do not believe the fire was intentionally set.
The story of the fire quickly took life on social media sites, one of those Twitter, as the hashtag #prayfortestudo began to trend early Wednesday morning.
According to the Department of Resident Life at the University of Maryland, library employees Marvin Jones and Adnan Qureshi extinguished the blaze.
