COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police officers fatally shot a man who came out of a College Park 7-Eleven with two knives and lunged at an officer.
Police say the man walked into the store carrying knives Sunday afternoon and announced a robbery. Later, police say he called 911 and told a dispatcher that he was not coming out alive.
Police say the man came out, lunged at an officer and the officer's dog jumped at him, but when the man kept coming, other officers shot him. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police did not identify the man.
The police dog was shot in the leg. The shooting is the third police-involved shooting in the College Park area in recent days.
