Allegany County authorities have arrested a Cumberland man for allegedly starting several fires at the downtown Cumberland Mall.

The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit says 18-year-old Patrick Kneisley set fires near the Downtown Dollar and Robert's Confections. A canopy, trash can, portable toilet, sign and awning were also set ablaze Oct. 15. Authorities put out two fires and officials discovered three others.

Witnesses and video evidence led police to Kneisley and he is charged with arson and malicious burning offenses. He is being held on $45,000 bond in Allegany County Detention Center.

Police said more arrests are pending in the arson. Cumberland's Fire Department and the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office assisted Cumberland Police and C3I.
