NOTTINGHAM, Md. (AP) - It's more than a motorcycle and less than a car, and now the autocycle is the latest type of regulated vehicle in Maryland.

The state Department of Transportation is publicizing the rules Monday at an event in Nottingham, even though the regulations have been in effect for a month.

A bill signed into law in April defines an autocycle as a motorized vehicle with two front wheels, one rear wheel, a steering wheel, foot pedals and the capability to go more than 35 mph.

The law says operators must have a regular driver's license. A motorcycle endorsement isn't required, and a motorcycle license alone is not enough.
