Southwest adds BWI flights to Portland, Oakland

Southwest Airlines will add nonstop transcontinental service between BWI and Portland, Oregon and Oakland, California.

The seasonal service will begin June 8.

This new service from Southwest Airlines means more flight options for our business and leisure travelers," said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Chief Executive Officer of BWI Marshall.  "The new transcontinental flights will also offer our west coast customers excellent access to Maryland and the entire National Capital region.  The new service will help BWI Marshall continue to drive transportation, economic development, and tourism."

Southwest, along with its subsidiary, AirTran Airways, serves 70.7 percent of BWI Marshall passenger traffic.  Portland is a new market for BWI, and the new service to Oakland will complement other Bay Area flights to San Francisco.
