BALTIMORE - Wildlife officials say a resident is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person who shot and killed a bald eagle.
The Department of Natural Resources said Friday that the Montgomery County resident was upset that the eagle was killed on Christmas Day, only a day after the resident had seen his first bald eagle.
Natural Resources Police say the eagle was shot by a rifle in a field at Georgia Avenue and Bordley Road in Brookville. Another eagle was found mortally wounded near a home in Darnestown on Dec. 28.
Anyone with information on the Brookeville shooting is asked to call the NRP catch-a-poacher hotline at 1-800-635-6124. Tips on the Darnestown shooting can be called in to the DNR Communications Center at 410-260-8888.
