The Frederick Police Department is warning residents of a fake news story being shared on social media about a rabid fox running around in the area.

The report says a fox has been seen around the Rt. 40 area of the city, and has bitten at least two people.

Police said the story is false and the department hasn’t received any reports of fox sightings or bites in the city.

If you suspect an animal may have rabies contact Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544.
