Report names Maryland top state for public education for fifth year in a row

Maryland #1 for best public schools

This is a report card worth putting on the fridge.  For the fifth straight year, Maryland has ranked number one when it comes to best public schools, according to Education Week.

The state earned an overall B+ in the report, which is done every year by the publication Education Week.  It looks at achievement rates in grades K-12, school finances and transitions from school to the work world.  The nation was given an overall grade of C+.

Maryland received its highest marks for emphasis on early-childhood education and preparing students for college and work.
