Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings will speak at the University of Maryland, College Park's winter commencement.
The graduation is set for Dec. 19 at The Xfinity Center.
During the ceremony, Cummings will receive an honorary doctorate of public service from the school.
The civil rights icon has served Maryland's 7th congressional district in the House of Representatives since 1997.
