President Obama reduces sentences for federal prisoners, 5 from Maryland

President Obama has reduced the sentences of 111 federal inmates convicted of drug offenses yesterday, including five from Maryland. Two men are from Baltimore.

Malik Abuhamid Ibm Wakil Abdunafi of Baltimore was sentenced to 20 years in 2007. His sentence will now expire in December.

Elliott Gray of Baltimore was sentenced to more than 15 years in 2007. His sentence will expire in 2018.

According to White house officials, the president has cut the federal sentences of more men and women than the last 10 presidents combined.

Earlier this month, President Obama set a new record by reducing the sentences of 214 people in a single day.

Obama has commuted a total of 673 sentences.
