Police identify hit-and-run victim

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Police in Montgomery County have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred in Rockville Saturday morning. 

Detectives said that Alonso Rodriguez, 24, of Bethesda was found dead on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road at 3:24 a.m. A passing motorist, who found Rodriguez, called for assistance, attempted to render aid, and remained on the scene until authorities arrived.
A preliminary investigation found that Rodriguez and two friends were socializing late Friday night and early Saturday morning. At around 2:20 a.m. Rodriguez was dropped off on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road. 
Police said that he was hit by a car on Norbeck road between 2:20 a.m. and 3:24 a.m. when the 911 call was received. 
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.  Detectives are asking anyone who traveled along Norbeck Road between Bel Pre Road and Muncaster Mill Road between 2:20 a.m. and 3:25 a.m. Saturday to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.  Callers may remain anonymous.
