Police find bodies of man, teenage girl in Germantown home

GERMANTOWN, Md. -

Montgomery County Police say the deaths of a man and a teenage girl who were found in a Germantown home are an apparent murder-suicide.

Detectives say 31-year-old Staff Sgt. Adam Anthony Arndt shot 17-year-old Michelle Lynne Miller in his home and shot himself.

Police found their bodies Monday after they were told that a missing juvenile was at the address. Officers did not get a response when they arrived at the home and had to break in.

Officers say Arndt and Miller, a senior at Rockville High School, knew each other. Authorities say Arndt was in the Army and Miller planned to enlist in the Army Reserves after graduation.

Officer Janelle Smith, a police spokeswoman, says Arndt processed new recruits into the reserves and was assigned to coordinate Miller's entry.
