One dead in Montgomery County plane crash

One person is confirmed dead after a small plane crashed into a field in Montgomery County Tuesday night.

Officials said around 6:20 p.m. a single engine “Cessna style” plane crashed in the 23900 block of Laytonsville Road near Hawks Creamery Road in Laytonsville, Md. 

One body was found in the wreckage of the single person plane. First responders searched the surrounding area and found no other passengers.

Montgomery County firefighters battled a blaze from the crash with help from the Howard County fire department and the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company.

Montgomery County Police, the NTSB and the FAA are investigating the cause of the crash.
