People's Counsel files for investigation of UberX and Lyft transportation applications

BALTIMORE - The Office of the People’s Counsel has filed a compliance investigation request for the popular transportation applications uberX and Lyft, according to a release from their office.

The Office of the People’s Counsel said uberX and Lyft have made no effort to ensure their drivers are abiding by the Maryland Public Service Commission’s licensing laws.

“We have filed these Requests for Investigation so that these individuals and members of the public can be made aware of these requirements and be given an opportunity to comply with them," the People’s Counsel of Maryland Paula Carmody said.

The Maryland Public Service Commission is considering the regulation of  Uber Technologies, Inc. and Lyft, Inc. within the state, according to the release.
