Megatron, a young harbor seal rescued from Bethany Beach back in February, is being released back into the wild Wednesday.

The seal was found stranded on the Delaware beach and was rescued by the MERR Institute. He was later taken to the National Aquarium for treatment of emaciation, dehydration and skin lesions.

Since arriving at the National Aquarium, Megatron has gained nearly 21 pounds and has grown about six inches.

He is scheduled to be released Wednesday morning on the beach in Ocean City. The event is open to the public.
