Maryland State Police say they're looking for a 16-year-old boy who is believed to have left a youth work camp, stolen a car and crashed it on Interstate 70 near Hagerstown.
Witnesses told police the boy ran from the scene Tuesday morning and tried to break into a house near Williamsport before the homeowner chased him away.
Police say he was driving a Jeep Cherokee with West Virginia tags that was stolen from Allegany County. They say the SUV struck a State Highway Administration mowing vehicle before hitting a guardrail near the I-81 interchange.
Sgt. Jeremy Stonebraker told The Herald-Mail the boy ran off from a youth work camp in Garrett County, more than 70 miles from Hagerstown. A Department of Juvenile Services spokesman couldn't immediately confirm the report.
