Money available to help homeowners

WASHINGTON -

With the state of the economy, owning a home has become difficult for many people.  But soon people in the red could get some much needed help.

On Thursday, six legal aid organizations that serve homeowners in Baltimore will be getting more than $7 million to expand their programs.

The Attorney General will make the ceremonial check presentation on Thursday.

These funds will be used to expand legal representation and related services to people facing foreclosure or struggling to pay their mortgage loans.

More than half of the money is coming from the $26 billion national mortgage settlement with the nation's five largest lenders.
