ANNAPOLIS, Md -
Breastfeeding is usually something recommended to new moms when they give birth. And Maryland hospitals are being encouraged to get moms on that path.
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene released its annual set of breastfeeding policy recommendations for medical centers.
Some of the suggestions include maintaining a written breastfeeding policy and stop giving pacifiers or artificial nipples to infants.
They also suggest getting moms into support groups after they're discharged.
No hospital is required to put any of the recommendations into practice.
