A Maryland woman was indicted by a federal grand jury this week for allegedly injecting people with non-medical grade silicone.

According to the indictment, Kendra Westmoreland of Windsor Mill used a silicon-based organic polymer from China, polydimenthylsiloxane, and injected it directly into her customers for payment. The polymer isn’t FDA approved for body contouring.

Between October 2000 and October 2015, Westmoreland allegedly led customers to believe the polymer was “medical grade” silicone and approved for injection directly into buttocks or other body parts, according to the indictment.

The indictment states customers came to her Windsor Mill home for injections and she went to Miami and other places to offer injections in other places. Westmoreland wasn’t a licensed medical practitioner or under a medical professional’s supervision during this time, according to the indictment.

She is facing charges of receiving and delivering an adulterated or misbranded device.
