GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) - The Maryland Transit Administration is starting a new program aimed at helping keep bus stops clean.
The agency is kicking off its Adopt-A-Stop program Wednesday in Glen Burnie. The agency says the program will involve businesses, property owners, residents and civic groups who will work to keep stops clean. The agency says that by adopting a stop, a group is committing to clean the stop at least twice a month with supplies provided by the agency. A sign will note the stop's adoption.
To kick off the program, the agency is holding an event with one of the program's first participants, the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
The agency says it hopes to have 200 stops adopted this year. There are more than 4,500 stops throughout the state.
