Transportation officials in Maryland are increasing police and canine explosive detection patrols throughout the transportation network.

Transportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn said in a news release Tuesday that activated plans for increased deployment of Maryland Transit Administration police and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. The actions come after explosions at the Brussels airport and on its subway system killed dozens and injured hundreds on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for Department of Transportation says the actions aren't because of a specific or credible threat against the state's mass transit.
