MARC Train anticipates major service disruptions for Brunswick Line service on Monday due to a  CSX Transportation freight train derailment Sunday morning in Washington D.C., according to a MTA press release.

Full service is unlikely and trains are unlikely to operate past Silver Spring.

The MTA suggests MARC Brunswick Line passengers should begin considering alternative routes for Monday's commute. The following options are suggested:

The Washington Metro option will be open. Passengers may show their MARC ticket to the Metrorail Station Manager. Passengers should note that Metro parking charges, however, are not included and must be paid upon exiting the parking lot. Reimbursement is not provided.

MTA Commuter Bus is working to add additional buses to the 505 and 515 Commuter Bus lines. All MARC tickets will be honored on both routes. The buses operate from Hagerstown, Frederick, and Monocacy to Shady Grove Metro as normally scheduled.

Passengers boarding at Germantown and points east may utilize Ride-On bus service to connect to Washington Metro. Ride-On buses honor all MARC weekly and monthly passes.
