Prince George’s County police arrested a man caught flying a drone in restricted airspace near a massive fire in College Park Monday.
Trevon Miller, 24, was charged with interfering with police and fire response as well as reckless endangerment.
Police said Miller flew his drone into the direct path of a police helicopter assisting firefighters as they fought a massive five-alarm fire.
The helicopter pilot performed an evasive maneuver and was able to avoid a crash.
Police located Miller on the ground and placed him under arrest.
Detectives are consulting with the Federal Aviation Administration for consideration of additional criminal charges.
