ANNAPOLIS, Md - Lawmakers in Annapolis say they've reached a compromise on a bill that would keep pit bulls from being singled out as more dangerous than other breeds.
Under the terms of the new bill, you would be liable if your dog bites someone.
But you would be able to defend yourself in court if you believe the dog bite victim *provoked* the dog.
The law would apply to all breeds, from Pit Bulls to Pomeranians.
It has the support of leaders in the house of delegates and state senate..
Lawmakers made this legislation an "emergency" bill.
That means if they get it passed and Governor O'Malley signs it the law would go into effect immediately.
