If you’ve been feeling stressed out lately, you’re not alone. A new listfrom career website Zippia ranked the most stressful cities in Maryland. They looked at the 41 places in Maryland with a population higher than 5,000, and then applied a number of criteria, including the unemployment rate, how many people had long commutes and the average percent of total income spent on rent.
The higher any of the half-dozen metrics were, the more stressed the residents are, according to Zippia’s methods.
1. Riverdale Park (Prince George’s County), ranked as the most stressed place in Maryland with 55 percent of the population paying a high rent, 69 percent of people having a long commute and 32 percent of the population lacking health insurance.
2. Mount Rainier (Prince George’s County) took second place, with 55 percent having high rent, 60 percent having a long commute and 29 percent uninsured.
3. New Carrollton (Prince George’s County) rounded out the top three, with 48 percent having high rent, 62 percent having a long commute and 20 percent uninsured
4. District Heights (Prince George’s County) had 51 percent paying high rent, 60 percent with a long commute and 11 percent uninsured.
5. Bladensburg (Prince George’s County) had 53 percent paying high rent, 56 percent with a long commute and 21 percent uninsured.
6. Cheverly (Prince George’s County) had 59.6 percent paying a high rent, 52 percent with a long commute and 10 percent uninsured.
7. Baltimore came in at number seven, with 51 percent paying high rent, 43 percent having a long commute and 11 percent uninsured.
8. Takoma Park (Montgomery County) had 42 percent paying a high rent, 66 percent with a long commute and 12 percent uninsured.
9. Hyattsville (Prince George’s County) had 42 percent paying a high rent, 61 percent with a long commute and 22 percent uninsured.
10. Rounding out the top ten was College Park (Prince George’s County), with 62 percent paying a high rent, 38 percent with a long commute and 8 percent uninsured.
Other notable listings include Hagerstown (Washington County) at number 14, Salisbury (Wicomico County) at number 18, Frederick (Frederick County) at number 20, Annapolis at number 29, Bel Air (Harford County) at number 32 and Ocean City (Worcester County) at number 37.
