BALTIMORE - The State Highway Administration asked drivers looking to hit the road early this morning to wait a little longer today.
They wanted to be able to properly treat the roads so drivers weren't slipping and sliding on your way to work.
Crews were out yesterday hitting the roads with salt.
They say this is the perfect temperature to treat with salt--- because when it gets colder, different chemicals must be used.
They can determine how to take care of the roads, thanks to some sensors imbedded in the pavement that tell the surface temperature and the salinity percentage so we can see what areas are wet or need salt.
State Highway officials say drivers should be prepared before going out.
Be sure you charge your cell phone----and keep a flashlight, shovel, and kitty litter or salt in case you get stuck.
