GRAPH | Maryland gun applications trend

As the debate over assault-type weapons heated up in Maryland this year, the number of applications for gun purchases saw an increase not comparable to previous years.

As of the end of March, Maryland could be on pace for 90,000 gun applicants.

State lawmakers passed Senate Bill 281 this week, on a 78-61 vote. There's no doubt that talk of the bill further restricting firearms in Maryland had an impact on gun applicants.
