Governor Larry Hogan signed 211 bills Tuesday into law, including the Protecting Victims of Sex Trafficking Act of 2017.

It expands the definition of sexual abuse to include sex trafficking to make it easier for victims to get help and gives authorities the ability to more effectively prosecute sex traffickers.

"Our focus has been on victims. Victims of crime," Hogan said at the signing of the law.

The measure was unanimously passed by both the house and senate during the legislative session.

The Governor also signed criminal justice and victims' rights measures and bills to provide tax relief and support for veterans and first responders.

"We've got a number of victims bills today we are going to be signing, we got crime bills, numerous human trafficking bills, animal cruelty bills. We're glad to be signing all of those," Hogan said.
