Frederick High School student arrested after assaulting female classmate

A Frederick High School student was arrested Friday after assaulting a female classmate.

Police initially dispatched additional units to the school pending earlier altercations involving students.

At  dismissal, 17-year-old student stuck the female student with his fist knocking her unconscious, police said. The suspect resisted verbal and physical direction from the officers. He resisted arrest, attempted to flee and assaulted a sheriff's deputy.

A sheriff's deputy was forced to use a Taser to subdue the student. He complied with arrest after.

The victim was transported to Meritus Medical Center. A sheriff also sustained minor injuries during the altercation.

The student faces charges of resisting arrest, two counts of second degree assault, and failure to obey a lawful order of a law enforcement officer.
