Marylanders across the state have big dreams for the biggest Powerball jackpot in the history of the game.

Fortunately, those dreams won't cost you much. If you lose, you're only out $2. However, the states that participate in Powerball will definitely be winners.

Last year, Maryland made over $1.7 billion in lottery revenue last year. The largest payout - the prizes. Winners were paid more than $1 billion.

In 2015, lottery profits topped $524 million. The Maryland lottery sends those profits to lawmakers in Annapolis. It's the lawmakers that decide how to divide it. The lottery website says education, health, public safety, and environmental programs share that money.
