People in the city of Frederick are being asked not to use their water unless absolutely necessary following a water main break over the weekend.

The city imposed emergency water restrictions after an 18-inch water main broke Sunday. Public works crews are working to fix the main, located in the Old Farm area.

The city posted pictures of the broken pipe and flooding on social media.

City water customers may experience harmless discolored water after repair of water main break. Running tap water several minutes should clear up discoloration.
