A construction worker has died after falling down an elevator shaft on the University of Maryland College Park campus.

Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady tells news outlets that Francois Odil Dishmey Kelly was working Thursday afternoon on the upper floor of a building under construction when he fell. The University of Maryland Police Department and fire personnel responded shortly after 1 p.m. and pronounced Kelly dead at the scene.

Police said in a statement they don't suspect foul play in Kelly's death.

The school's Vice President of Administration and Finance Carlo Colella says university police and Maryland Occupational Safety and Health officials will investigate.
