Comptroller Peter Franchot testified Tuesday before a House committee in support of expanding the tax refund warrant intercept program law.

In Anne Arundel and Washington counties, along with Baltimore City, if there is a warrant out for your arrest, you won't get your tax refund.

After a person responds to their warrant, then the comptroller will release their refund to them.

"People respond to this, they want their money and we give them their money as soon as they do the right thing," Franchot said.

The program will expire in Anne Arundel County in 2018.
