Maryland isn't one of the states where you can see the total solar eclipse, but that won't stop anyone from going outside to watch.
Here are some of the places offering viewing parties and activities in our area:
Port Discovery Children's Museum
35 Market Pl, Baltimore
August 20, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
This is to get ready for the eclipse and is just for the kids. Kids can create solar eclipse art, learn about space, and get ready for the eclipse.

Maryland Science Center
601 Light Street, Baltimore
August 21, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Join museum staff on the rooftop to safely observe the eclipse. There will be a variety of safe solar views and sun-themed activities.

Cylburn Arboretum
4915 Greenspring Ave, Baltimore
August 21, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
You can observe a partial eclipse by making pinhole cameras and watching the moon's shadows cast by trees on the trails. For safety, they also offer eclipse glasses.
Observatory Park
100 Desellum Avenue, Gaithersburg
August 21, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Gaithersburg will be at 85 percent totality. There will be solar viewing, solar activities, things to make and take, plus free solar viewers while supplies last. The event will also feature a live feed of the total eclipse.

Harford County Public Library (Various Locations)
August 21, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Learn more about the sun, space, what makes an eclipse, and how to view it safely. You can then step outside and view the partial eclipse. Solar eclipse glasses will be available while supplies last.

Capital SUP Annapolis
808 Boucher Ave, Annapolis
August 21, 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Watch the solar eclipse from the water in a kayak or on a stand up paddle board. Solar eclipse viewing glasses and water will be provided.

Benjamin Banneker Historical Park & Museum
300 Oella Ave, Catonsville
August 21, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Bring your own shoe box and make a pinhole camera to watch the eclipse from this spot.
Tuckahoe State Park
13450 Cherry Lane, Ridgely
August 21, 1 pm. - 3 p.m
This is a free solar eclipse party at the ballfield in the Cherry Lane Campground area. The event will include themed crafts, music, snacks and a limited supply of viewing glasses.
Adventure Park at Sandy Spring Friends School

August 21
Watch the eclipse as you zip line. This is one unique way to enjoy the event.
