Maryland has nine dairy farms that offer fresh ice cream made on site and, if you visit all nine by September 23, you could be named Maryland’s 2016 Ice Cream Trail Blazer.
Maryland’s Best, a program run by the state department of agriculture, has linked the nine farms together to make the Maryland Ice Cream Trail. Anyone who visits each of the nine farms and answers a trivia question to receive a stamp on their “trail passport” will be eligible for a prize drawing.
Prizes include a $50 gift certificate to the creamery of the winner’s choice, DVDs of the latest season of “Maryland Farm and Harvest,” a public television series that highlights agriculture in Maryland, and a copy of the cookbook “Dishing Up Maryland,” by Lucie Snodgrass—and, of course, the bragging rights of having tried ice cream from all over Maryland.
The nine creameries on the trail are:

• Harford County - Keyes Creamery 3712 Aldino Road (Entrance On Hopewell Road), Aberdeen, MD 21001
• Montgomery County - Woodbourne Creamery at Rock Hill Orchard, 28600 Ridge Rd, Mt. Airy, MD, 21771
