REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Officials with the Maryland State Police say a Baltimore motorcycle officer was injured Tuesday morning in a crash.
The injured officer is reportedly assigned to the Baltimore Police Department's special operations section. He was en route on I-795 to a training in Sykesville. Officials say the motorcycle began to sway back and forth after it hit a metal connecting portion of the roadway between the road and an overpass. To avoid striking vehicles, the officer reportedly laid the bike on its side and slid across the wet pavement.
The 10-year-veteran of the force was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Officials with the state police say the officer's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
