ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Lorraine Sheehan Alcohol Tax Coalition will announce later Tuesday how the 2011 alcohol tax increase is being used.
According to a release by the group, the money is being used to fund "critical health care and community services" in the 2013 budget.
The Coalition said they are pleased the money is being used on what Governor O'Malley promised when it was enacted. They also said they have seen a reduction in underage drinking and alcohol abuse due to this tax.
The governor's budget set the money aside for health care and community funding, and the Coalition is calling on the General Assembly to approve this part of the budget.
