GERMANTOWN, Md. - Four children were stabbed, two of them fatally, when police say a Germantown mother and her friend
tried to perform an exorcism.
Officials have released 9-1-1 tapes that led to the discovery of the crime scene police described as horrific and bloody.
"In the car outside there is a knife with the blood," The caller told dispatchers.
Zakieya Latrice Avery, 28, is charged with the murder of her 1- and 2-year-old children and the attempted murder of her older children, ages 5 and 8. Avery's friend, 21-year-old Monifa Sanford, is facing the same charges.
Investigators say the women believed the children were possessed by the devil and that they were performing an exorcism.
