Six million gallons of water can cause some big problems.

A 12-inch water main burst, flooding a stretch of Route 1. The break created geysers and caused the road to buckle and turn into a river.

It took road crews nearly three hours before they could stop the water.

The pipe that burst was 73 years old, and crews said the break busted the road.

There is now a 45-foot wide hole.

Traffic is getting by in the southbound lane.

Prince George’s County was delivering boxes of water to the homes of people without it.

Officials estimated about 16 businesses were still without water Friday evening.
